San Luis Obispo County Social Services

Went to apply for assistance. I got a ticket out of the machine. Was waiting about 20 minutes. There were only a couple ppl there. I was completely ignored. They kept asking people if they needed help. I had to go up and ask to turn in the paperwork. The girl was very rude and condescending. Quite a few people came in after me without an appointment, doing the same thing I was and got called in ahead of me. I waited longer in another room. The workers kept passing the door staring at me, laughing, making jokes. I went back up to the front to ask if someone was going to come into the room because other people got helped before me. I asked for my paperwork back. Another lady came out very condescending as well. They refused to give me my paperwork back. Finally a girl came into the room and did my " intake" was asking questions I had never been asked before. Really weird.(By the way all my information was already in the system from applying online) When we were done she said she was requesting an appointment for me. She was just staring at her computer screen. I asked her how much longer it was going to take. She replied very rudely " Why, do you have somewhere else to be?" Not sure why they were so nice to everyone else and acting like that towards me. I thought these places were supposed to have workers who actually want to help people in need. It doesn't seem like these people care.

Traci is one of the most dedicated and kind caseworkers and humans that I’ve had the privilege to cross paths with. You can tell that she takes pride and importance in the work she does. Although I am not the most organized person, she helped me keep up to date with my benefits and was diligent in notifying me of any changes or updates. The downtown SLO office was a bit of a nightmare to say the least, but the AG location is just *chefs kiss*. Prepare to be greeted at the door and be treated with dignity. Thank you for doing what you do.

Friendly and helpful staff. Neat, clean office. Not a lot of people in the waiting area.

Coming from Maryland to move to California has been a small but testy acclimating. This office has gone well beyond helping me. Absolutely a very caring and community based office. I've never been in any type of establishment where every single employee actually show that they want to help. Incredibly satisfying to know there are caring people out there

They still have covid message in machine, You have to wait over five minutes listening to message in spanish and you cant leave a message? been 30 days since application and no contact?
